After a FEMA fire grant award: reports, deadlines and closeout

Grant cycle: FY 2025 AFG and SAFER NOFOs (federal fiscal year 2025). These obligations apply only if your department is awarded; check your award's terms and conditions, which control.

Twice-yearly reports

During the period of performance, recipients submit both of these in FEMA GO twice a year:

• Federal Financial Report (SF-425) — obligations and expenditures.
• Performance Report — project status, a summary of expenditures and any issues that may affect completion.

• For January 1 – June 30: due no later than July 30.
• For July 1 – December 31: due no later than January 30.

Closeout — within 120 days

Within 120 days after the period of performance ends, recipients submit the final request for payment (if applicable), the final FFR, a final progress report, and a narrative summary of the impact.

AFG only: incident reporting

AFG recipients must report to NFIRS or NERIS during the performance period. If you can't at award time, you must establish reporting capacity within 24 months and then report for at least 12 months.
