Capital Planning

Documenting a capital need

Your Capital Plan (`/needs`) is the list of everything your department has identified as a real capital need -- an apparatus replacement, a station repair, new equipment, anything with a real cost and a real timeline.

Adding a need

Each need captures what you need, roughly what it will cost, and roughly when you need it. You don't need exact figures to start -- a reasonable estimate is enough to begin matching against funding opportunities, and you can refine it later.

What happens after you add one

As soon as a need exists, Capital Command starts checking it against funding opportunities in Funding Intelligence. You'll also get access to that need's own Funding Blueprint -- a dedicated view of secured, pending, potential, and remaining-gap funding for that specific need, which is the core of how Capital Command connects "what we need" to "how we're going to pay for it."

Archived needs (ones you've marked as no longer active) are excluded from your active funding matching and from your Command Briefing's attention items, but they're never deleted -- your history stays intact.
